What the hell can I do with this blog? With blog comes great responsibility. I guess. I feel like I can do so much but the only thing I've thought of so far is developing a dictionary of the most connotively emotive words available.

What do you all think? Any golden anecdotes of the power of language? I'm looking for the microcosmic spark of this potential star.

The Aesthexicon

I am fascinated with the way words work; with the way they sound, the way they look, how they roll together and drop off the tongue, out of the pen, onto the page, and so on. They are an art form in and of themselves, and the nuances of placing certain words is an art which requires its own mastery, as does any other. What is our lexical aesthetic? Where inside does it reside? How do we decide what we find most alluring or repulsive, when it comes to the miniscule features of words that fill in every crack of human understanding? The concept of words comprises so much more than their form, function, and manifest meaning, that we are required to take a closer look, into our own pasts and selves, to attribute this powerful language with an understanding that has been shaped by the same mold as our personalities. I'll have to figure that out.

Journal Entry #1

I suppose I'll use this for any number of reasons. I'll write whatever comes to me. I've got a passion for words and their infinite forms. It was suggested to me that I create a blog about linguistics and the like, something I find extraordinarily interesting. Perhaps I'll do just that.
